Ada's Retreat is for none smokers only. Please do not smoke either in the house or the garden.
Your Private Wing
Ada's Retreat is a private and separate part of a very large Lakeland stone house, the other half is only occasionally occupied throughout the year, by us, Louise and Steve, and we're a quiet pair of old codgers.
If you have any concerns then please do contact us.
We have an acre of sunny and private garden for you to enjoy, plus chairs, table, and collapsible garden chairs.Take a book and a cuppa - and flop and anywhere you wish.
Arrival, Departure, Parking & Transport
We will email or post confirmation, directions and a list of great eateries to you, following payment of final balance.
Check in time is after 3pm please, departure by 11am latest please.
Plenty of private off road parking. However, with good public transport, boats, stout walking boots, bikes, and the Mountain Goat, you can manage easily for a few days without a car. The train station at Windermere is a 5 minute taxi ride away, the fells are just behind the house, and the lake a 5 minute walk away.
Pets & Children
Sincere apologies, we love both children and dogs but Ada's Retreat is kitted out for two adults only. Please do not bring pets or children - we will ask you to find alternative accommodation if you arrive with little people (either hairy or otherwise) in tow, and you will forfeit the total cost of your accommodation.
Once again sincere apologies.
We part own a fab hotel,
" Lindeth Howe " which welcomes both with open arms.
Other Stuff and Important Info.
An absolute given in today's world, and whilst you might get 4G on your phone, our internet speed is at a pace which enables you to surf the web, but sadly can't cope with streaming films or anything else.
A washing machine only (we hardly ever use a tumble drier in our own home) as the warmth of the rooms, airers -and quite often!- sunshine, means clothes dry quickly.
A collapsible clothes dryer is provided.
Maps and Walking Books -
lots! all in the house...
Planning on packing the kitchen sink?
If you're anything like us, you're hoping for a home from home -
or better, and we hope that Ada's Retreat will be just that.
If you have any queries as to what to pack, especially if you're coming by train, check what's provided or please do ask.
We'll help if we can.
The stairs to the bedroom are fairly steep and therefore not suitable for those with extreme mobility issues, if unsure please contact us.
